JJ Lin & Evonne Hsu Concert

Club Nokia
it's the 1st time watching concert in Club Nokia. At first, i thought it's in Nokia Theater... what a huge difference... club Nokis is much more smaller thatn Nokia Theater... i was excited to see JJ. Evonne just an adds up.
the inside looks more like a club with open bar and the VIP section is just like a dance floor. The view wasn't that great from the location we stand. so we eventually move to the left side which is closer to the stage. i felt the concert was awfully short. i was hoping to see JJ and Evonne sing together. but not even that, it was more like a 2 separated shows...

Ten Raku BBQ

i feel like have been on a eating tour over the long weekend. kept eating all the way long. we order the set for $109. it's about right for 6 people to eat it. it comes with beef tongue, Kobe beef, prime ribs, pork belly, and steaks!! also including the soup and rice. but i was kinda sad that the set comes w/ no dessert!! the meat quality is pretty good. they also have 宮崎牛 for $99 for 130g!! what kind of meat is that!! anyway, i think that's way too luxury for meat...

The Boiler

Oyster Oyster and more Oyster!! i feel fat already... i love their house pan roasted soup with rice!! but i came here for the oyster this time. the oyster is not bad~~ but could be better~~ maybe the soup is still better. but the cashier did the bill wrong which is kind lame... =v=

Phili's BBQ

i lived in SD for 5 years and never tried Phili's BBQ.... i heard so much about it from my friends afterward and think i NEED to eat it!! we arrived the place around 5pm and the line is supper long already. i think it'll take 2 hours wait to get a seat. so we decided to order To-Go. i order the Rib & Chicken Dinner which comes with 2 sides for $13 dollers. The food was ready in 10~15 min and i don't understand why those people rather wait in line when To-Go is so much easier. The BBQ still tasted great when we got home. their sauce is a bit spicy and the meat is more grilled! totally my taste!!

The Tractor Room

We waited almost 30 min for the seat!! originally, i was planing to visit HASH A GO GO, but it takes an hour and half for a seat w/out reservation!! so we came to their 2nd restaurant which is 5 min walking distance away from it. Tractor Room is more like a bar and they don't have as much selection as Hash a GO Go, but the menu is pretty much the same. i order a fried chicken benedict. the portion was huge!!! it's enough for 2 people to share and still get full!! no wonder the line was so long!! i have to say the wait is worth it!

SD Trip

Balboa Park
after brunch we came to Balboa park for a walk. it's a nice place to come to enjoy the afternoon. it gets lots museums and gardens.
Coronado Island
after so many time visiting the place, i still love the scenic!! great beach, great view!! i think Coronado Island is a must visit when in SD. Hotel Del is supper pretty too.

MonJa

grand opening!! we came for the free food on their soft opening last week~~ including alcohol~ XD they got pretty decent food like LuWei, fried chicken, sweet potato fries, and veggies. i was kind surprise they provide open bar for all you can drink~ that was generous. great event, but the food was just average :P

Tutti Frutti Yogurt

i came for their Coffee Bread!! yes! coffee bread!! not yogurt! i don't know when they start to sell bread, but i want to try it since it smells so good every time i pass by it. we came after dinner for the 20% discount after 8pm. there were actually a lot people here for the bread. I brought the original, the one w/out nuts, but i was a bit disappointed after the first bit. the coffee doesn't really blend into bread and it's not really soft. maybe it'll taste better when heated up. too bad i didn't have it right after it baked. after i brought it, i saw a lady took all the bread and brought 2 boxes of it. aw... i probably won't spend my money on it again.

Anjin

yakiniku~ i love yakiniku and i love Anjin!! the meat quality is wayy better compare w/ other Korean BBQ~ I love Korean BBQ too, i just think Anjin is better, even better than Gyu Kaku. we order the beef rib, beef tongue, chicken, sausage, and pork cheeks. i love their ribs and chicken!! i usually don't eat chicken for BBQ since it's too dry, but the one Anjin has is pretty good. the bill turns out to be about $20 per person which is not bad!

we went shopping at The Camp before dinner since there's about 30 min wait. i've been to Irvine so many time, but i never know this place! it's actully pretty small, but i love the area!! great photo spot! love it!
we went to 85 °C Bakery latter. same as usual, the line is super long!!! and they finally get some new bread and more drinks!!! at last!! something new to buy!!!

Mission 261

i wouldn't thought of coming here if it's not for the event. the place looks quite nice, interior and decor, but the rating isn't that great, i just hope it isn't an American restaurant that serves fusion style Chinese food... we had an entire room for our party and it's actually a pretty good place to host a dinner. the food started to come up after we sat for a while, it looks alright and taste alright. what a relief! then we went to Neomaze latter in Pasadena, but i don't wanna talk about it.

Toffee Cake with ice cream!!!
it's soooooo good~~ i ordered it since we got a dessert for the entry combo!! i only ate their 6 layers chocolate before and think it's just ok. but their toffee cake was wayyyy much better. i didn't want dessert since i was so full after the Tri-Tip, but i end up finish it b/c it's sooooo good~

Iron Man @ Gold Class Cinema

more free stuff on B-day!! Gold class cinema gives you a free ticket on your b-day when you become their member online. I think it was insane when i heard the ticket is $22 per person! but after visiting it, i think it's definitely worth the money to try on special occasions.
after you get your ticket, there will be a guide waiting for you when your take the escalator down to their lounge area. you will be sited for some drinks and they will take you inside the theater before the movie starts. what an experience! the seat was in individual couch and it was so comfy~~~ they also provide blanket and pillow~ aww~~ makes me feel like home. we ordered fired calamari, Beef Burger, and portobello slider. since we went on Tuesday, the food menu was 50% off!! the food was ok~ it's the experience that matters. there's also a service button right next to your seat if you wants to order more. it was a great date and i had a great night!! luv Gold Class Cinema!!

Benihana

i went to Benihana on my b-day. since i am in their chef's member, i get $30 discount toward my bill for my B-day. I order the Lobster with New York Steak. Babe ordered the Scallop with Fillet Mignon. I like the scallop a lot better than my lobster. our chef was quite fun and entertaining, but he gave my lobster to babe, >x< so i turn out to eat from babe's dish rather than mine.

the meal comes with ice cream and you get a pineapple on your b-day + b-day photo. there was another girl celebrating her b-day as well at the same table. her family brought a cake and they share the cake with me! how sweet!! the cake made my day! i like how Benihana gives the photo as a gift when celebrating b-day over there. it's good to keep for memory.

Goldilocks

Cheese Rolls~~~ i heard this place yesterday and come here the next day. can't wait to have some cheese rolls~~ it was recommend by my friend and i think it's worth to try out their cheese rolls. $9.99 a doze and its' not bad at all. i kinda forget how Porto's cheese rolls taste, but now i don't have to drive all the way to Glandale when i want some cheese rolls. we have it right here~~ \^v^/

臭豆腐大王

i can smell sticky tofu from far aways when coming here for dinner. i remember last time i had sticky tofu from here was when it's still in a booth. i ordered a 萬鑾豬腳 and it's not 萬鑾豬腳 at all! it's cut in slices which looks more like beef instead! all the food i had there i won't recommend. 肉丸不好吃, 臭豆腐炸的也不酥... \_/# they used to have pretty decent sticky tofu, maybe i am being picky, but it's a huge disappointment.

MJ Cafe

i heard this place got pretty good Taiwanese breakfast sandwich~ but after trying it, i felt i can make it at home too.. it's good, but just not good enough as i expected. the presentation is nice so is the size, but i guess i'll order other things next time.

一級棒日式料理

this weekend is babe's b-day~ but we didn't plan to do anything. just want to chill at home and have a simple dinner. we went to the restaurant and notice they give $30 discount during the month of the birthday when order over $80. i have to say we must be lucky! we came here at the right time. it supporses to be a Japanese cuisine, but it starts to have tawainese food on the menu and it's not bad. but the sashimis are just okay... defintly worth to come during b-day month.

Mini Golf @ Speed Zone

i feel like i had a longest Friday night ever! we went to dinner at Furaibo and decided to play mini golf afterward!! how spontaneous!! i pass by Speedzone all the time, but i didn't know there's a mini golf! there's also an arcade inside which is a lot bigger than i thought.
after the golf, we stop by Tea Bar for a break and went to eat again for mid-night snack!!
i can't believe i've ate at 2 places in 1 night. we went to Banana Bay for more food~~ i feel like i've gain fat just in 1 night....

Daphne's Greek Cafe

i haven't been to this place since college~ sometime i like to try unordinary food like Mediterranean food, kabobs, and Greek cafe!!! i tried their Gyros on pita, it was so good and i love it. i also order a Falafa, but it's not as good as the one i had before.
it's called Baklava, a tradition Greek Dessert~ little piece for only a dollar~ it's soaked in caramel with cinnamon. i just had one bite b/c it's sooooooo sweet~~~

Cheesecake Factory

we came there for the Mother's Day~!! i haven't been to Cheesecake factory since college~ i kinda miss the food here, and it's still good after so long. we ordered the Tuna salad, Shrimp Angel hair pasta, Spicy meat pizza, and the steak and salmon combo.
The tuna salad was recommended online, so i thought to give it a try and my dad loves it. i felt the portion become a bit smaller than before, but maybe it's just me.
we ordered 3 cakes!!! The red velvet, Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake, and Outrageous cake. both cheesecake were really good!! but i was a little disappointed at the outrageous chocolate cake. it looks good, but it's a bit dry and hard, i guess it's not that outrageous according to it's name...

Phoenix

i was going to get their dessert for coming here, but end up with the Fruit ice tea. their ice tea got chopped fresh fruit dices which is different than other places. i love their dessert jello too~

Cafe Fusion

we went to Cafe Fusion after hiking. i haven't been here since last years for the Chinese new year's dinner. i was kinda surprised that this small place actually has good business. i have to say their menu list is huge and they got all kind of selection. the food is not bad, but i don't know what's the best. at least it's pretty taiwanese...

Fish Canyon Fall

I feel like i need an exercise since I haven't go hiking for a long time. so joined the hiking with friends on Sat. morning. b/c I think the water fall is quit big and pretty by looking at the pictures. the trail is actually not hard to walk and it took only about 30~45 min to get to the water fall. we went there around 8am when it's still cool and i would recommend to go there early since the place start to get crowded on our way back. however, it took me a day to recover from the exercise... i guess i wasn't that athletic afterall.
