Lakers v.s Jazz

3/18 @6:30 pm. 1st time watching NBA at staple center. we sat on row 10 behind the basket ball rack. i thought it's that's close enough, but i still feel a bit far from the player. and too bad we can't bring DSLR. Lakers end up lost.

Chado tea room

4 ★★★★ for the ambiance and the service
3.5 ★★★★ for the food
$ $18 a person
i got deal online which cost us only $15 for the tea + $10 worth of tea to take home. we got 3 layered tea set and we got to pick any tea on the menu. i picked the darjeeling worder tea which is $9 oz. but the tea wasn't very strong b/c they didn't put tea leaf in the pot. when i ask for hot water on the 2nd run, it's just water~~ argh... i liked their sandwich better, but their scone was soso. we got to pick 3 kinds of tea to take home. i chose the earl grey and their house afternoon tea blend. we sat outside since the weather was lovely. we were there for almost 2 hours and went shopping around the Japanese village next to it.

Shakespeare Festival @ Griffin Park

free event happening this month. we checked out the festival on Sat. and it was a fun experience. we also checked out the old LA zoo which was right next to it. the zoo was kinda spooky, so i just stayed outside and took pictures. the stage was small but you get good view anywhere you sit. a lot people were having picnic, and we were smart enough to bring our blanket, snacks and drinks as well. :p the show starts at 7pm and runs until 10pm i believe. we didn't finish watching the show since it's getting kinda dark, so we left during the intermission.

Nook Bistro

4 ★★★★ for the ambiance and the service
4 ★★★★ for the food
$$ 30~50
we tried out this place on a Wednesday since we have 30% off coupon code. it's located in a weired small plaza. I don't even see a sign for it... and it's hard to find it since it's in the corner. and surprisingly there was a lot people! don't know if everybody came for the 30% or not. i had the pork chop which was huge. i also had the chocolate banana bread pudding. can't help it when it comes to chocolate. and so glad we did, the dessert was really good.

The Little Next Door

4.5 ★★★★ for the ambiance and the service
4 ★★★★ for the food
$ 30 and below
1st meal on a new year! i heard of this place a while back and have been wanting to try it. i love their decor and love the blue paint on the wall. i ordered the french toast, just ok imo. i like my toast very soft, but little door had it thick sliced and it's a bit dry. the toast itself is just a 3 ★ the smoked tuna egg Bendite looks much better. We also had their fresh baked bakery. their chocolate croissant is the best!

Providence

4.5 ★★★★ for the ambiance and the service
5 ★★★★★ for the food
$$$$ 100 and above
we had the 5 courses tasting menu for $85.
japanese kanpachi
Sea Scallop
halibut with cranberry bean
veal tenderloin
bread pudding w/ barley ice cream
i love the bacon rolls and seaweed bread they served. i couldn't really remember how does the scallop taste. the fish was good, but i didn't eat the bean... i wish they could substitute it with corn.. too bad i forget my camera that day and couldn't take any pictures...we also had the foie gras. i was a bit disappointed b/c it looks so dry and hard from outside. but it was really soft and even better than the one i had before. the course remained me of the Bazaar. nice food presentation and interesting tasting experience. it was very impressive on their Mojitos & screwdriver. and they treated us Macaroon & chocolate jellies at the end.

Spearmint Rhino

came here on a friend b-day. 1st time experience is so so~~ the club is not as hyped as I imaged. it's pretty slow and quite at the beginning. it only got heat up toward the end when the special guest showed up. we got the VIP package since there were 24 of us. each of us end up paying $27 for the entry. the girls in Spearmint are mostly white and most of them are nice looking. the show in the end was just so out of ordinary~~ we left around 12pm, just right after the show. i guess i am ready for chippendale. =P

The Counter

i've finally ate the counter. since i don't usually come to the west side, there's a lot food i have been waiting to eat for a long time. counter got customize hamburger. you get to pick what ever you want to add on the menu. i chose 1/3 lbs. beef with grilled onion, lettuce, tomato, and roasted corn with garlic sauce. people here are mostly white, i think we were the only Asian there. .. @~@

Standard Hotel

i luv the view in Standard. there's $10 parking fee which sucks~~ but i guess b/c it's one of the attraction in downtown LA... i got to sit inside the water bed beside the pool. it's so comfy and roomy. there's an event going on the day we went. some kind of fashion show. but we left before it begins.

LA Grammy Museum

another free museum day~~ there were several that interested me, but we only got 1 day.... so i picked The Grammy Museum in LA live. i kinda wanna see the Micheal Jackson's exhibit, but it was in renovation... the museum is really cool, but too bad no picture inside... =(

F21 sample sale

it was so hot that day and we spend hours waiting in line... omg.... there goes my sunburn... it's more like a swap meet and no dressing room. i kinda went off on my own once i got in and shop until i drop. it was really cheap~~

Beard Papa

i love sweets~~~ beard papa got new crisp puff. i forget what it's called.. the twisted doughnut. i think each location got differnt filling. i got strawberry filling eclair. i can taste real strawberry in it~~ i also love their crisp cream puff~~~ so good~

Palomino‏

4 ★★★★ for the ambiance and the service
4 ★★★★ for the food
$$$ 50~100
we came to this restaurant since i got a coupon in my email. this place looks fancy with good vibe. it's located right next to the Hammer museum. we ordered the shrimp pasta and the scallop. $22 for pasta~~ so pricey~~ they got good food, but you are paying for what you got. i see the customers are mostly seniors... i guess student can't afford the price... they also got HH 24/7. maybe we'll come again for their HH next time.

Hammer

another relax and lovely afternoon~ we visited Hammer using our student ID for free admission. i felt it was a rather small museum. i guess b/c one of the gallery was closed due to renovation, so we were cut down to 2 exhibits only.

JW Marriott

this is where the party started!! we had a suite in JW Marriot for a friend B-day party. it's right next to the Nokia theater. mmmm~ i feel like i am in vegas~
View from the room. we got kick out from the room since we were too loud, so we decided to cut the cake by the poolside, but it was closed since it's too late. so i didn't get a chance to see it. then we moved to the lobby and celebrate there.
cakes for the B-day girls. cutting the cake part is such a hassel... we kept moving from one location to another. it not like we had a choice since we can't go back to the suite. but i think it would be very crowded if we try to fit 40 people in the room orz....

Flemings

i luv HH~~ we went to Fleming before the party start. Flemings HH is great~~ great price, great food, great environment. all cocktail and appetizer are $6 dollar only. i always wanna come to Fleming's HH. we ordered a lot of appetizers include bbq shrimp, raw beef, calamari, and sear tuna. too bad it's not around my area, otherwise i would come often.
